Toshiba’s Interventional X-Ray Technologies Create Safer Exams for Patients

Press Releases

Spot Fluoroscopy and Dose Tracking System Optimize Dose Management

SAN DIEGO, Calif., March 21, 2014 – Committed to optimizing dose management for patients and clinicians during interventional procedures, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. will showcase its Spot Fluoroscopy technology and Dose Tracking System at this year’s Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) annual meeting. Both dose reduction technologies are available for Toshiba’s InfinixTM-i cardiovascular X-ray systems.

Spot Fluoroscopy offers clinicians a more detailed picture, improving the safety of interventional procedures. The technology allows operators to observe a target area using live fluoroscopy while viewing the Last Image Hold (LIH) surround area, resulting in decreased dose and a more complete image for faster diagnoses.

Toshiba’s Dose Tracking System, an industry first, allows clinicians to visualize radiation skin dose in real time during interventional procedures. By tracking and displaying the distribution of skin dose across a patient’s body, clinicians can make quick and necessary changes to minimize risk.

“Technologies like Spot Fluoroscopy and Dose Tracking System are particularly important during long interventional procedures,” said David Sloop, director, X-ray Vascular Business Unit, Toshiba. “The technologies provide unmatched dose management solutions to minimize radiation exposure to both clinicians and patients.”

Toshiba will showcase its Spot Fluoroscopy technology and Dose Tracking System at SIR, San Diego, March 22–27, 2014 (Booth #1236).
